With the huge amount tax involved in land transactions, I believe the Government is actually facilitating corruption.
Come on! who would go and sell their land so that they can give 30% of the proceeds to the government, you got to be kidding.
This just induces the person to mark a very small amount on paper for the deal. You got all sorts of agent to do the trick for you. You got jobless advocates sitting ready to sign the affidavit for just 1900/- rupees in Pune (as per the experience of a colleague who just bought a flat).
If you put the tax at 5%, with the huge amount of land transactions happening, you would actually see the revenues of the government grow higher. Does this make sense?
